SUPPORTING DIFFERENTLY ABLED PERSONS TOWARDS ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

North Tongu, Wednesday, 31st December 2025

The North Tongu District Assembly concluded the year with a special engagement program focused on supporting differently abled persons through economic empowerment initiatives.

A total of thirty-six beneficiaries received livelihood and business-enhancing items to support income generation and self-reliance. The items included cassava processing machines, electric sewing machines, freezers with ice chests, and essential provisions such as rice, sugar, and cooking oil.

The program, held at the forecourt of the District Assembly, brought together beneficiaries, their families, support systems, and Assembly Members. The engagement created a platform to interact directly with beneficiaries, understand their needs, and recognize their resilience and determination.

The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to inclusive development across the district. Over the years, significant investments have been made in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment to ensure that all residents benefit from development efforts.

The program also reinforced the importance of inclusion, collaboration, and sustained support for differently abled persons. Beneficiaries were encouraged to make effective use of the items received to either start new businesses or expand existing ones to improve their livelihoods.

The engagement marked a strong close to a year focused on community empowerment and inclusive growth, with a continued commitment to creating opportunities that promote independence, improve living conditions, and support long-term development in North Tongu.
