The Social Welfare and Community Development Department of the District is responsible for promoting social protection, inclusion, and community empowerment in line with policies from the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection. It supports vulnerable groups such as children, women, the differently abled and the elderly through social intervention programmes, child protection services, and assistance with issues like abuse and social exclusion.

The department also mobilizes communities for development initiatives, promotes livelihood and self-help programmes, and supports the implementation of national social protection interventions. Additionally, it provides public education, counseling, and rehabilitation services while coordinating with stakeholders and monitoring programmes to improve social well-being and development at the district level.
