On Thursday, 30th April 2026, the District Chief Executive for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, joined other Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives and the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council to sign a contract under Government’s 24 hour economy initiative alongside project contractors.
The signing marks a clear shift from planning to implementation of a major programme aimed at boosting economic activity across the region. The project will deliver modern market infrastructure, improved trading spaces, enhanced security and reliable utilities to support round the clock business operations.
The initiative is expected to create jobs, support traders and entrepreneurs, and strengthen local economies, including North Tongu. With the contract signed, attention now turns to the sod cutting ceremony and the start of construction works.
Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe expressed appreciation to H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for their continued support. She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that North Tongu benefits fully from the initiative as efforts continue to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development.
