On Friday, 14th August 2026, the District Chief Executive for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, joined stakeholders at the North Tongu Education Directorate in Mepe for the presentation of branded sports kits donated by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to the North Tongu contingent ahead of the 55th Annual Basic School Sports Festival.

The regional competition is scheduled to take place from 15th to 21st August 2026 at Akatsi Senior High Technical School and will bring together young athletes from across the region to compete in various sporting disciplines.

The donation comprises 100 tracksuits, 50 athlete jerseys for boys and girls, 14 netball jerseys, 24 volleyball jerseys and 40 football jerseys. The sports kits will provide the young athletes with appropriate equipment and branded outfits as they represent North Tongu at the regional competition.

Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe expressed her sincere appreciation to Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for the thoughtful and timely support towards the district’s young athletes. She noted that the gesture will help boost the confidence, unity and team spirit of the athletes while strengthening their sense of pride in representing North Tongu.

She commended the coaches, officials, teachers and other stakeholders supporting the young athletes and encouraged them to provide the necessary guidance and motivation throughout the competition.

The District Chief Executive also urged the North Tongu contingent to remain disciplined, focused and determined throughout the festival. She wished the athletes and their coaches the very best and encouraged them to give their best and represent the district with pride.

The presentation highlights the importance of investing in sports and youth development while providing young people with opportunities to develop their talents, build confidence and contribute positively to the development of North Tongu.
