On Wednesday, 7th October 2026, the District Chief Executive for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, visited the headquarters of CIHEAM Bari in Italy to gain first-hand insight into the organisation’s programmes and investments benefiting the district.

CIHEAM Bari, in partnership with BFI, is implementing a €15.4 million project in North Tongu aimed at supporting development in the district.

As part of the visit, the DCE is participating in an intensive two-week course in Post-Harvest Management and Food Processing. The training focuses on reducing post-harvest losses, improving food preservation and adding value to agricultural produce.

The knowledge and skills gained are expected to strengthen the Assembly’s capacity to support farmers and promote agricultural development in North Tongu.

The DCE expressed appreciation to CIHEAM Bari, Italy, for fully funding the learning and knowledge-exchange opportunity. She looks forward to applying the experience gained to support farmers and contribute to improved livelihoods in the district.
