On Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, the District Chief Executive for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, visited survivors of the tragic head on collision at Peki Tsame, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 2nd June 2026, claiming 15 lives and leaving 25 others injured.

The accident involved a 33 seater passenger bus travelling from Battor in the North Tongu District to Kabiti in the Oti Region and a container truck travelling from Nkwanta towards Accra. Following the incident, the injured victims were admitted to the Peki Government Hospital and the Ho Teaching Hospital, where they continue to receive medical treatment.

The District Chief Executive undertook the visit together with the District Chief Executive for South Dayi, Hon. Courage Kwame Kokroko, the North Tongu Constituency Youth Organiser and the Constituency Communications Officer to assess the condition of the victims, offer words of encouragement and demonstrate solidarity with them and their families during this difficult period.

As part of the visit, donations were presented to both hospitals to support the ongoing care and treatment of the injured victims. The delegation also interacted with medical personnel and commended them for their dedication, professionalism and tireless efforts in providing quality healthcare under challenging circumstances.

Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe expressed sincere appreciation to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, for their concern and unwavering commitment towards the welfare of the victims and the people of North Tongu. She noted that although the Member of Parliament was out of the country on official duties, he continued to monitor developments closely and remained deeply concerned about the well being of all those affected.

The District Chief Executive extended heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and wished the injured victims a speedy and full recovery. She reaffirmed the commitment of the North Tongu District Assembly to working with government, healthcare institutions and other stakeholders to ensure that the affected families receive the necessary support during this difficult time.

The visit reflected the Assembly’s commitment to compassion, responsive leadership and collective action in supporting communities during times of tragedy while reinforcing the importance of collaboration in providing relief and hope to those affected.
