The 69th Mepe Afenortozа Festival was celebrated in grand style on Saturday, 9th August 2025, at the Presby JHS School Park. The event, organised by the Mepe Development Association in collaboration with the Mepe Traditional Council, brought together chiefs, elders, citizens, and distinguished guests under the theme:

“Unite for Peace and Development: Post VRA Akosombo Dam Flood Disaster.”

The festival provided a platform for reflection on the devastating impact of the Akosombo Dam spillage while reaffirming the community’s commitment to unity, resilience, and progress.

Dignitaries in attendance included H.E. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, Volta Region’s Representative on the Council of State, alongside other prominent personalities and well-wishers.

Representing the government, the District Chief Executive for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe commended the organizers for their foresight in anchoring the festival around peace and development.

“I urge all stakeholders to prioritise peace and collaboration in addressing the challenges confronting the Mepe Traditional Area, especially in the wake of the Akosombo Dam spillage,” Hon. Doe remarked.

The festival also served as a rallying point for citizens at home and abroad to support ongoing recovery efforts while renewing their collective resolve to build a more peaceful and prosperous Mepe.
