On Thursday, 30th July 2026, the Mepe Development Association met with the North Tongu District Security Council (DISEC) following an invitation to discuss security arrangements and other key issues ahead of the 70th Afenorto Festival.

The meeting, chaired by the District Chief Executive for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, provided an opportunity for DISEC and representatives of the Mepe Development Association to deliberate on measures to ensure a peaceful, secure and successful celebration. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration among the relevant stakeholders, safeguarding lives and property, and addressing security concerns that may arise during the festival.

The engagement was cordial and productive, with both parties reaffirming the importance of close cooperation between the District Assembly, security agencies, traditional authorities, community leaders and festival organisers. The collaborative approach is expected to contribute to a safe environment for residents, visitors and participants throughout the celebrations.

As the people of Mepe commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Afenorto Festival, the North Tongu District Assembly and the District Security Council extend their warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Mepe Traditional Council, the Mepe Development Association and the people of Mepe.

The District Chief Executive reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to working closely with the Mepe community and all relevant stakeholders to safeguard lives and property while supporting the successful organisation of the festival.
