Podoe Queen Mother and Traditional Council Visit Assembly Ahead of Torgbe Adela Ananze Titriku XII’s Funeral

The Queen Mother of Podoe together with the Podoe Traditional Council has paid a courtesy call on the North Tongu District Assembly to officially invite the Assembly to the funeral of Torgbe Adela Ananze Titriku XII, Paramount Chief of Podoe. The solemn visit highlighted the significance of the upcoming funeral, scheduled for 3rd to 10th November 2025, which is expected to draw mourners, dignitaries, and traditional leaders from across the Volta Region and beyond.

During the engagement, the Queen Mother appealed to the Assembly to take urgent steps in fixing all non-functional streetlights in Podoe to ensure safety and security for mourners and visitors attending the funeral. She also called for a temporary rehabilitation of the community’s main road, explaining that while the road has already been awarded to a contractor by the central government, an interim solution is needed to facilitate smooth movement during the funeral period.

The Assembly leadership warmly received the delegation and assured them of their commitment to work closely with stakeholders to ensure a dignified and successful funeral. The DCE Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe emphasized that the funeral of such a revered traditional leader is not only a family or community affair but also a matter of great cultural importance to the entire district.
