
On Tuesday, 11th February 2026, the North Tongu District witnessed a significant boost in youth empowerment and skills development as the National Apprenticeship Programme presented work equipment to six master craft men and women to support the training of thirty apprentices in dressmaking, hairdressing and cosmetology.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, who participated in the programme, described the initiative as a major step toward equipping young people with practical skills to build sustainable livelihoods and reduce unemployment in the district.
She expressed profound appreciation to H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for their strong commitment to job creation and youth skills training. According to her, the programme demonstrates government’s resolve to create opportunities for young people through vocational and technical training.
The event was attended by the YEA Director, Mr. Matthew Dabah; the NDC Constituency Communications Officer, Mr. Kennedy Mornyuie; the Presiding Member; and Assembly staff led by the District Finance Officer, Mr. Divine Seckey. Stakeholders present reaffirmed their commitment to supporting youth development and promoting inclusive growth in North Tongu.
The National Apprenticeship Programme is expected to enhance technical skills, promote entrepreneurship and empower beneficiaries to contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
