North Tongu, Friday, 19th December 2025
In line with the directive of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the North Tongu District Assembly organized a successful National Sanitation Day cleanup exercise at Juapong ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The exercise, held from 6.00am to 10.00am, involved the temporary closure of shops and commercial activities, except for essential services, in full compliance with the Assembly’s directive. Officials of the Assembly, traditional authorities, security agencies, heads of decentralized departments, Assembly Members, and residents actively participated in the exercise, demonstrating strong commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health.
Key activities carried out during the exercise included sweeping of streets and public spaces, desilting of drains, and the collection and proper disposal of refuse within Juapong and surrounding communities. These activities helped improve sanitation conditions and reduce environmental health risks within the area.
The Assembly expressed appreciation to all participants for their cooperation and strong sense of civic responsibility. Residents were encouraged to maintain good sanitation practices beyond the festive season, as sustaining a clean and healthy environment remains a shared responsibility essential to the growth and development of the North Tongu District.
The National Sanitation Day cleanup exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to promote public health, environmental safety, and community well-being across the district.
