The North Tongu District Assembly yesterday actively participated in the Regional Budget Hearing for the 2026 Composite Budget held at Adidome in the Central Tongu District. The hearing, organized by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, brought together Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the region to present and defend their proposed budgets for the upcoming fiscal year.
The North Tongu District team, led by the District Chief Executive, made a comprehensive presentation highlighting key priorities for 2026, including infrastructure development, revenue enhancement measures, social interventions, and ongoing efforts to improve service delivery at the local level. The presentation also emphasized alignment with national development goals and the 2026–2029 Medium-Term Development Plan.
The Regional Budget Hearing provided an important platform for technical review, peer learning, and feedback to ensure that district budgets reflect both local needs and government fiscal policies. The event was attended by regional directors, coordinating directors, finance officers, planning officers, and other key stakeholders in local governance.
The regional hearing panel subjected the North Tongu District Assembly’s presentation to rigorous scrutiny, focusing on the clear linkage between their planned projects and the District Medium Term Development Plan (DMTDP). Questions centered on the feasibility of the Assembly’s revenue projections and the effectiveness of the proposed expenditure in addressing the most pressing socio-economic challenges faced by the constituents.
The North Tongu District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to prudent financial management, transparency, and accountability in the implementation of its 2026 budget to promote sustainable development across the district.
