North Tongu DCE Commissions Modern Cold Store at Juapong to Boost Local Economy

Juapong, North Tongu – 11th June 2025

In a bold step towards supporting local enterprise and improving food security, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, joined entrepreneur Mr. Glavi Isaac for the official opening of a modern cold store facility at the Juapong Market.

The new facility — the first of its kind in the area — is expected to transform the local food supply chain, providing vital cold storage services for fish, meat, and other perishables. This development not only enhances food preservation but also opens up new economic opportunities for traders and farmers in Juapong and surrounding communities.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Doe praised Mr. Glavi’s entrepreneurial spirit, stating:

“This modern cold store is a significant boost to our local economy. I encourage Mr. Glavi to prioritise the employment of residents from Juapong and nearby communities. Doing so will bring economic relief and empower our youth and families.”

She commended the initiative as an example of the private sector driving practical development in the district and urged more entrepreneurs to follow suit:

“I call on more local investors to bring such impactful initiatives to North Tongu. Together, we can build a thriving and resilient economy.”

The cold store is expected to serve not only Juapong but also neighboring districts, offering a sustainable solution to post-harvest losses and improving access to fresh food.
