In a powerful show of unity and confidence, the North Tongu District Assembly has overwhelmingly confirmed the nomination of the new District Chief Executive (DCE), with Hon. [Full Name to be inserted] receiving 41 out of 42 votes during a special sitting.
The confirmation ceremony, chaired by Presiding Member Hon. Tse Kofi Jupita Azietor and graced by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, marked a pivotal moment for the district as it looks toward a renewed phase of development and transformation.
In his official statement of gratitude, the newly confirmed DCE expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, for the opportunity to serve, and to the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for his unwavering mentorship and support.
“I am immensely grateful to the Honourable Assembly Members for their resounding show of confidence in my leadership,” he noted, emphasizing his readiness to work hand-in-hand with key stakeholders to accelerate progress in North Tongu.
The DCE pledged to prioritize education, healthcare, water and sanitation, and road infrastructure, while outlining a bold development agenda that includes:
1. Revamping the Juapong Textile Factory to boost employment and industrial activity;
2. Ensuring fair resettlement and compensation for victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage;
3. Building the Dorfor Adidome Bridge to improve transport and connectivity;
4. Establishing a satellite campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in North Tongu.
The DCE further called for collaborative governance, inviting Assembly Members, traditional authorities, and local communities to unite around a shared vision for an inclusive and prosperous district.
