MECHANISED BOREHOLES COMMISSIONED AT DEVE AND AKUTA TO EASE WATER SHORTAGES

The District Chief Executive for North Tongu joined the Millicent Keku Foundation to commission two mechanised boreholes in the Deve and Akuta communities within the Deve Electoral Area, bringing much needed relief to residents who have endured severe water shortages, particularly during the dry season.

The commissioning was marked by joy and excitement among community members, underscoring the importance of access to clean and reliable water. The DCE commended Madam Millicent Keku and her Foundation for the timely and impactful intervention, noting that the project will significantly improve health, livelihoods and overall living conditions in the beneficiary communities.

As part of government’s broader commitment to ensuring access to safe drinking water for all, the DCE announced that the North Tongu District Assembly is at the final stage of procurement to construct ten (10) additional mechanised boreholes in the most vulnerable communities across the district. She further acknowledged the continued support of the Office of the Member of Parliament, which is undertaking similar water projects in schools and communities.

The beneficiary communities were urged to take collective responsibility for protecting and maintaining the boreholes to ensure their long term sustainability. The DCE expressed appreciation to the Assembly Member, ward coordinator, traditional leaders and the people of Deve and Akuta for their cooperation and support, reaffirming the commitment to delivering practical solutions that improve lives.
