The North Tongu District Assembly has successfully held its second public hearing on the draft 2026–2029 Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) at Juapong, as part of ongoing efforts to promote participatory local governance and citizen engagement in development planning.
The forum, chaired by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, brought together chiefs, Assembly Members, representatives from government departments, youth and women groups, business operators, political parties, and faith-based organizations.
During the session, the District Planning Officer, Mr. Nunekpeku Jacob, presented the draft MTDP, outlining strategic programmes and projects proposed for implementation across key development sectors. Participants reviewed the plan and provided valuable feedback on areas such as infrastructure development, job creation, sanitation improvement, education, and health service delivery.
Concerns raised included equitable distribution of projects between communities, funding for major infrastructure works, and the need for stronger monitoring and transparency mechanisms. The DCE assured participants that their comments would be incorporated into the final plan before submission to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council for approval.
The public hearing underscored the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive, transparent, and community-driven development planning that aligns with the district’s long-term vision for growth and resilience.
