A clean-up exercise by the Zongo Boys Union of Battor

In a remarkable show of community spirit and environmental responsibility, the Zongo Boys Union of Battor organized a successful clean-up exercise to rid Battor Dugame of waste and litter, marking a powerful step toward a cleaner and healthier North Tongu.
The exercise, which took place with strong community participation, saw the active involvement of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, and the Assembly Member for the Battor Dugame Electoral Area, Hon. Galah Jacob. The event underscored the impact of grassroots mobilization and unity in addressing sanitation challenges.
“This exercise demonstrates what we can achieve when community members, leaders, and stakeholders come together in unity and purpose,” said Hon. Doe.
To support the clean-up, the DCE collaborated with Hon. Galah Jacob to provide sanitation tools and offered a personal donation to encourage the group’s efforts. She commended the Zongo Boys Union for their initiative, describing it as both timely and inspiring, especially in the lead-up to the reintroduction of National Sanitation Day on May 3, 2025.
Looking ahead, Hon. Doe announced plans to meet with stakeholders to develop sustainable sanitation strategies, with a focus on:
✅ Desilting of gutters
✅ Sanitation education for residents
✅ Regular community clean-up activities
“Small steps like this lead to greater transformation,” she remarked. “As the President’s representative and a servant of the people, I am committed to a coordinated, people-centered approach to addressing the pressing needs of our communities.”
The North Tongu District Assembly encourages all communities to emulate this example as it prepares for a district-wide clean-up campaign that will reinforce the shared goal of building a cleaner, greener, and healthier North Tongu.
